WHY VOLCA-NO?

Our service is to help fulfill Vanuatu's need for natural disaster protection through our volcano insurance, shelters/bunkers, and preparation kits. Volcano insurance is not currently provided because of the high risk the insurance company would endure. This insurance would allow the businesses to have a stipend to rebuild their business after a volcanic eruption. This stimulates the economy during a destructive time giving the community hope, jobs and an opportunity to rebuild the community. The next option is to build shelters/bunkers to protect from a volcanic eruption. These will serve similar purposes to tornado bunkers. With help from engineers and environmental personnel, we will determine the best architecture for this service. It will be above ground and without windows. The next is a volcanic eruption preparation kit. These kits would be distributed to our target audiences to have on site in case of an eruption. An eruption preparation kit will include the following materials: flashlight and extra batteries, emergency food and water, manual can opener, essential medicines, sturdy shoes, respiratory protection, eye protection and battery-powered radio.
